Two years later, now living in Norfolk, Virginia, Carol and Rich had a house where they could have a dog. Enter Kilkraney Tara, later to earn the title of CD, who was purchased from Josephine Lefebvre of Moraga, California. She was bred to Ch Melbee's Chances Are, the top Kerry of his day. The Baslers kept a puppy from that breeding, Taramoor's Dana, who, like her mother, earned her CD.

But, Rich wanted a "real show dog." So in 1973, now living in Southern California, the Baslers went to Ray and Mary-Lou Perry and selected Ch Tontine's Warlord. Val, as Warlord was called, went on to be #2 Kerry for two years and in the top five for five years. During his show career, Val earned 105 Best of Breeds, 45 Group placements and an owner-handled Best in Show. The BOBs included seven specialty wins, including a USKBTC Traveling Specialty BISS. He also achieved a TT (Temperament Tested), an early version of the Canine Good Citizen award.

During his lifetime, Val sired 18 champions, two of which the Baslers had selected from litters they had breed. Two other daughters went on to be the dams of the greatest number of champions in the history of the Kerry breed in the United States.

Ch Warlord's Piece of Eight (Megan) was the daughter of Ch O'Skico's Bloody Mary who had been a gift from the Rands of Colorado. She was followed a year later by Ch Warlord's Brazen Image (Bonnie). Bonnie went on to be #2 Kerry bitch during her show career, including several regional BISS wins.

In 1991, Billie Kellogg gave the Baslers Camshron Driftaway (Jasper) as a replacement for Val who died at 15 years of age. Billie owned Ch Melbee's Camshorn Turnabout, a Val daughter and the top producing Kerry bitch in US breed history. Jasper when on to gain his championship and win one BISS.

The Baslers wanted to bring new lines into the US Kerry gene pool. So to that end they imported a bitch from the prestigious Gaeltacht kennel in Finland. Ch Gaeltacht Fedelm Aduaidh (Lryic) went on to have a very successful show career including a BOS at the USKBTC Specialty at Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, as well as other Specialty wins.

Lyric was bred in June 2000 to the then newly imported Ch Torum's Scarf Michael. The litter consisted of Ch Warlord's Scarf McKensie, Ch Warlord's Shenanigans and Ch Warlord's Tomahawk. All of which finished their championships with specialty wins.

Ch Warlord's Scarf McKensie (Kensie) has tired of the show ring, but has begun a new career in herding, at which she is excelling.

Ch Warlord's Shenanigans finished her championship by going Best of Breed at the KBTCSC Specialty from the Bred by Exhibitor Class. She went on to be one of the top Kerry bitched in 2004.

Ch Warlord's Tomahawk (Tommy) is currently pursuing his successful show career.
